Friendly Reminder to Passenger Traveling from New Zealand to China on the Latest Epidemic Controlling Policy and Travel Restrictions

Dear passengers:

To ensure a smooth travel, please check carefully before you travel and confirm in advance whether you meet all the entry, exit and epidemic prevention regulations of the flight origin, stopover, transit or destination country. The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in New Zealand (Cook Islands, Niue) and the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Auckland require you to apply for a health code. During the nucleic acid test, before the flight, on the way to the airport and on the flight, please take personal protection, and cooperate with our staff to do temperature measurement, health code, Declaration of Commitment inspection, etc. If your destination is a city other than international entry city in China, please check the quarantine requirements in international entry city in advance to determine the departure time of the domestic flight. Please prepare the relevant application materials and submit the application as soon as possible in accordance with the requirements of the Embassy or Consulate of PRC. To avoid missing the flight, it is strongly recommended to apply for the health code before arriving at the airport.

According to the latest news from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in New Zealand (Cook Islands, Niue), Starting from14 Nov 2022, the pre-departure COVID-19 test requirements for passengers boarding on China-bound flights from New Zealand have been changed as follows:

1.Only a single COVID-19 PCR test is now required to be conducted within 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the China-bound flight. A negative COVID-19 PCR test result is required when applying for the health code, and the original test report from the testing facility must be uploaded.

2.Passengers travelling to China through New Zealand can have their COVID-19 PCR test conducted in the country of the origin departure or in the transit location, within 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the China-bound flight. Passengers should apply for the health code from a nearest Chinese diplomatic and consular mission where the testing facility is located. A valid health code is required when check in flight at the airport.

There are no testing facilities available at the transit area of the Auckland International Airport, transiting passengers (who remain at the transit area without entering New Zealand) when transit directly to China through Auckland International Airport are required to have their COVID-19 PCR test conducted in line with the requirements set by the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in the country of the origin departure.

3.There are no additional requirements for people who have been previously infected with COVID-19, or a close contact or showing suspected symptoms, or have received a presumptive positive or equivocal test result. A health code can be applied by providing a single COVID-19 PCR test result within 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the China-bound flight.

The current pandemic around the world is still ongoing, and there is still a high risk of getting infected during international travel. For the purpose of maintaining the health and safety of passengers on board, the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in New Zealand would remind that passengers travelling to China to remain vigilant and continue to take serious precautions, encourage passengers to carry out personal health monitoring before travel, and strictly implement personal protection before and during the journey.
